It seems fitting to share this flashback of a storm that Great Plains founders Dereck and Beverly Joubert endured whilst filming lions and buffaloes near Duba Plains. The camp was once again savaged by foul weather recently when tropical storm Eloise swept through northern Botswana damaging canvas tents and uprooting ancient trees. Thankfully our staff were uninjured, but Duba Plains will need to be closed for a few months so we can renovate and rebuild (a task that we had planned to do anyway, but which has now become a touch more urgent!).
Despite the circumstances, we are smiling in the face of this adversity as we can’t wait to breathe new life into the camp and turn it into something truly remarkable. We look forward to welcoming you all to the revamped Duba Plains in the near future.
